court day juror

court day juror

A Poem by Dylan
"

a written perception while called for jury duty and given afterwards.

"

standing there

upholding justice and the wall

over this tiled sea

flooded with self-important feet,

some here have come

glowing and glum,

some in furor

all this--

at being a juror;

but here's a sight I've seen

of a woman in green

bent over some wander child

"mother knows where!

 doesn't she care?"

a look and a word

from she to me

said

"no responsibility."

called not to stand

by judge mc cann

the orders change

and here she sits,

this woman in green

with high modeled cheeks

and fine lined lips.

to relieve the bored,

she parts a smile

and taps a score

of music in mind,

unsung but seen

keeping in time

and flashing dark eyes

when questioned so,

she smiles her smile

fresh and flowing

bright and glowing.

so who is this lady in green

here that i see?

well stated she is

awaiting trials,

and yes--

she smiles!

and who's this lady in green,

demure she is

tugging her skirt

four times already

eight, nine, calm and steady

--a gentle pull--here, there,

at the knee of her dress

doing her best

to coyly cover

that silken trace

of lingering lace!
