Everything was blurry for a minute “hey sweetie did you finish your drink already” said mom I took the glass from my mouth and my sight came back but I dropped the glass and it fell to the floor mom gasped “oh careful” she said “it might break” she looked back at the counter “now it’ll only be a minute” she said “mommy just has to make sure that the cake is perfect” she started humming as I played with the toys on the table “let’s see there and there perfect” she walked over to me “aww look at you you’re so adorable in your tiny footed pajamas” she set down the cake “happy birthday sweetie” she grabbed a plate and spoon “wow two years today” and she scooped a slice of cake onto the plate “I think I know a little someone who is ready for some cake” she said as she gave me a spoon of cake she scooped up another spoon “here it comes through the tunnel” but before I could eat it someone nocked on the door mom gasped “I’ll be… right back” she walked away I began seeing static the room was shaking like an earthquake I heard mom talking to someone in the other room it was dad I wondered why was he back was he trying it again he couldn’t be he failed last time why would he there was a slam and mom walked in holding a present “hey you look what I found I wonder what it is why don’t we go upstairs and find out” mom picked me up and said “oh my how much cake did you have” and she carried me upstairs “here we are” she said as she sat me down in my room “now let’s see what’s inside maybe it’s a new toy” she laughed a little and opened the box just enough for me to see a teddy bear inside but then the phone rang and she closed it “okay sweetie be a dear and play for a bit mommy will be right back” she set the box on the dresser and put me in my crib when she left I got out and opened the drawers to make stairs up and I opened the present but it was empty I heard a faint sinister laugh from my toy chest so I walked closer and saw it cracked open revealing small button eyes staring at me I walked closer and opened the chest “hey you found me” said the bear as he climbed out “my name is teddy nice to meet you hey what’s your name
