Impressionable

Impressionable

A Poem by Zendenera

They paved the road.
Let their opinions take hold.
Young mind, unfinished, blind.
Her own overshadowed.
Her story untold.

The doctor gave the sad girl medicine.
Her mother made a fuss and a scene.
She was hurting, she was sad.
Why do you have to be this mad?

Her feelings put away in silence.
Her thoughts, kept away.
In passive mode, she would stay.
Years passed, her walls lasted.

The anger buried.
Just waking up everyday, worried.
A pain inside.
With years of practice, easy to hide.

Something fading inside.
Death, his voice echoes in her mind.
“Do it” he tells her.
Leave it all behind.

Her story untold.
Please let her color unfold.
She found her voice.
Now she makes the choice.

unquestionable impressionable.
A young mind, unfinished, blind.
She’ll leave it all behind.
But only to live and free her mind.
