Methought I was Enamored of an A*s

A poem i wrote for english class. Be gentle, i wrote it in... 4 minutes.

 

Methought I was Enamored of an A*s.

 

‘Twas a strange dream I had this night.

I dreamt of happy things,

Like flowers and doves,

But then also, it had a darker side.

For you see,

Methought I was enamored of an A*s.

Not like the animal, you see,

But a man, as human as you and me.

He was gentle, kind, until the night came by,

It was then that he screamed and moaned.

“Where is me beer, wench?”

But thankfully, the sun did arise, and the A*s was no more.

Then I rolled to my side; at my love,

“I forgot. I’m MARRIED to an A*s.”

Written in 4 minutes, huh? Well it's pretty clever at that and it gets a belly laugh from me. This poem is very simple and that suits it well. I think a lot of people (myself included) often take things just a little too seriously, especially when it comes to poetry and writing. This serves as an effective reminder that it's okay to address the lighter side of things as well. Laughter/humor often gets overlooked in poetry so thank you so much for sharing it with us.
