White NoiseA Poem by Darl NightingaleInsistent thoughts of society and the truth about people. What are anyone's intentions? As I sit in this room and look to the world, I wonder Is it the time to act? The time to stay silent? I do not know... The silence grows fond of the trailing voices as each person picks up their own tune, and soon it changes. The silence is no more But these voices? These incoherent songs? They mean nothing. Pleasant distractions. These... These keep people happy. But are they real? The real honesty is in silence. The silence of the past... The future; Hushed whispers keeping it down. No truth no quiet no poise. Meager nonsense filling the void: This world full of lies. The honesty has faded... Our morals? Ever there? But what happens later? When pride is too much. And then... people hide from the truth. No longer embracing it in spurts: strings of self preservation Evaluation. Faded lost darkened Darkened by the noise. These masks people hide behind wearing their faces to hide their faces blending in with public eyes? A loss of self is all we have.© 2014 Darl NightingaleAuthor's Note
