An Open Canvas

An Open Canvas

A Poem by Zee Norton-Williams

An ocean
An open canvas
But then
An open casket
You wasn't taught beaty
You didn't see love
An ocean of magic to take you away
An ocean of freedom you made

You should have seen the wonders
The ocean, the world
Exploring the wonders
Not jumping down
Sinking deep
Your heart crushed by the painful waves

The waves symbolise feelings
The ocean symbolises beauty
You should have got to know

No one really knows when their time is done ...life isn't fair nor free. But we DO hope for more than we have and we reach outside of our selves to share heartbeats.

A poem of regrets here. The speaker seems to be mourning things that didn't happen and why. This is not the time to grieve, though. Much can still be attained.

PS: Do a spell check on the second and last words in line five, verse one.
