The Time You

The Time You

A Poem by Zee Norton-Williams

The Time You:

The time you held me in your arms

The time you told me be strong

Fight the world for us to stay

The time you told me you’d never let me walk away

The time you told me you’d never leave my side

The time you told me I’ll be fine

The time you told me live my life

The time we danced in the rain from choice

The time you held me as I cried

The time you told me to rub my eyes

The time you told me you’d be by my side

Then left me behind

The time you said I was to come first

The time you lied and drugs were first

The time you lied and alcohol ruled

The time you took her hand over all

You blamed the weed on which you lived

But another splif you did so quick

Not a thought

Not a sorry

Just its what I need to be happy

The time I left

The time I ran

The time I moved on

The time I grew tired

The time I grew strong

I left you behind for better things

A splif to you is a dear friend

A loved one lost is that true

Or was I just a trophy to you?

A memory has been formed

For now your gone

Just a memory that's being consumed.

The time I had enough of you,

the time I chose to survive.
