My Strings

My Strings

A Poem by Zee Norton-Williams

We are all puppets in this thing we call life

As children our parents pull our string

At school our teachers pull out strings,

they teach us we should be our own person,

then yank the strings to fit their needs

As an adult you are required to get a job,

your bosses, yes more than one!

then pull your strings they tell you what time to arrive,

tell you what you can and can not do,

and they tell you what time you can leave

Now living on your own as an adult.

you have to have the job which controls you;

you have to pay your bills and those companies then control your strings.

The point is no matter how responsible you are.

how old you get you will never fully be in control because you are a puppet.

Someone to pull and tank at will by everyone else around you.
