Dandy randy Tom cat

A light humour poem to lighten moods as we phase out from pandemic spells. I like watching cat antics...

Curiosity perhaps killed many a cat
For a cat it is an inquisitive brat

It could rummage through anything even your rubbish trash
Tabby may spring on dinner table and cutlery may crash

Famous might be a cat for those famed nine lives
but not much help is that if in every danger it dives!

Its feline curiosity to crash-land it in trouble
for it tends to explore every kind of rubble.

The catty puss likes a fight and a wild-goose-chase.
Forever looking forward to amuse and amaze?

In a cat basket he's likely to be struck with ennui
Perhaps his caretaker thought only of his fengshui?

His meowing and hissing resonates in the valley
as he tussles with many rival cats in the alley

Mr. Tom cat thinks most females are saucy
but with them he acts in a way quite bossy

Wild and rough, with macho feral pride
I watch you tease and taunt in your typical stride.

No way is he kitty soft paws
Mr. Tomcat sure has the sharpest claws.

Tomcat ate the fishy leftover pudding & fish pie
and kissed the feline females and made them cry.

But my fav is my own cutie p***y darling so soft
even if she may raid the larder and loft that's aloft .

An entertaining poem! I have had several cats over the years, so yes, I like cats. But your poem reminds me of an incident involving a neighbour's cat rather than one of my own. I remember when I was a child one summer, and my father had taken a lovely joint of beef out of the oven and put it on the table to cool, before carving. The kitchen door was slightly open, and our neighbour's cat snuck in and leaped on the table, unseen. By the time my father saw the cat, it was tearing away pieces of beef and eating it! The cat was shooed away, and my father had a few stern words with our neighbour, but nothing could be done about it. Cats are cats! My father trimmed away the section of beef where the cat had been engaged, and we had to make do with a diminished beef dinner! Amusing to look back upon, but my father was vexed at the time. I enjoyed reading your poem!

I get an allergic reaction when in contact with cat fur so I give the little buggers a wide, wide berth.

Yeah my kids were allergic to cats as toddlers and me a bit too but we seem to have outgrown the allergy. So those allergic to cat fur can't keep any furry animal, be jt cats, dogs, hamsters etc i wondered. Glad you aren't allergic to reading about them. Warmest thanks for comment!

As kids we had cats and I had no problem, the allergy came in later life. As for allergies to other pets, no, I've had cocker spaniels for the last 30 years and have never had a problem :)

I am a cat lover, we have always had a cat or two in our household. Currently just one little minx with a huge personality. Your poem Zay, Zay is a fun read. Ours is a house cat so unlikely to come across the wailing toms who roam our neighbourhood at night. Hope you and your loved ones are keeping happy and well. Good to see you. My cat too likes to stay inside and rushes back inside whenever we put it out for mischief. And if we leave it out at night it gets teased by tom cats who are always teasing cats in the alleyway though sometimes the females want to be teased bjt are playing hard to get or sth.

You had me at cat. I love cats. As I read your poem I visualized a listless cat not at all concerned with how energy passes through its basket. 'Cat shui' might be where the toy is placed, the arrangement of pillow and how the tail lay.

Yeah i saw listless cats in videos but the cats i know in my area have fun in the alleyway corridors as no one confines them to baskets and inside homes. Thanks soo much for your super comment,

I believe the original saying may have been “Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back" I suppose the end results of being curious outweighs the effort of being curious.

Um I never read that, always saw it written just as curiosity killed the cat’ and this poem is just about cats and even their 9 lives wouldn’t bring a cat back once dead. But like another poet you must be thinking I’m against curiosity but rather I might be against only reckless daredevil curiosity for humans. Thanks soo much for your fine comment,

a fun read
My son had the most beautiful, large pure black cat I've ever seen
Almost Panther like
In our area, cats are now legislated to being house-bound only
I understand that Bird's initiated this action
But not really sure
Could have been mice

Wow I can picture that, must have been majestic panther like eh then. I prefer white and brown cats though, they look less scarier.
You mean cats are grounded to keep them from killing birds? What about stray street cats?
Here where I live the cats mostly eat mice only not birds.

A whimsical look at the stealthy sneaky but lovable pet the cat. A delightful read and as a cat lover myself pretty much spot on true in its assessment. What I like about cats more than dogs is you have to earn their love and trust. They don't give it freely. But once you earn it you have a companion and friend for life. Hi Zaynab, I loved the content of this piece. I have always loved cats. I have never had one but I have always been drawn to them. Funny thing, my sister had a cat, it was a wild cat that had been left behind by the mother and siblings. She was the runt of the litter, most definitely. Well, my sister told me that she wasn't sure of strangers, she would keep away from them. I walked in the door and she ran right up to me. I always felt at peace when she was near me. Well, your poet delight is full of fun. You bring p***y to life in such a real way. The rhythm and rhyme are wonderful. My imagination was held from the start to the end.
