Guess my guest of honour

Guess my guest of honour

A Poem by S.zaynab.kamoonpury

It popped on my window as if to say hello
my birdie buddy all sweet and mellow
Dressed in a downy gold gown of yellow
I tried to cheep in tune, join its song to say
'welcome my chirping lil fellow
Oh my it sang then like a feathered cello!
So hi and hello fellow writerscafers and twitter tweet tweet
May you find this short 'n' very merry sweet , sweet
This was in honour of my winged guest of honour
For I fawn over you birdies, I'm your fan , a bird lover
Build your nest in my poet's corner, I'm your fawner
Lil birdie you are my VIP, be my guest of honour

Such a happy poem; was/am intrigued by its music, the way it joyfully sings out, rhyming very smilingly in much of the phrasing. There's little else to wonder at in our world these days, so please, please keep watching and listening to your sweet yellow buddy plus truly wonder at the plants he/she visits! Then, write more charming words, please. :)

You're welcome. Luck and more with your writing.
A really cute ode to a winged visitor. I like your description and narrative and how you painted that rare moment of meeting a rare visitor. Also the use of sounds made it feel like im talkin in bird language, it's a rare talent to draw readers into acting out and imagining animal sounds in their heads. Awesome work!

my pleasure... Neville
This is brilliant & light-hearted & playful & original! One of the best poems I've read in the last few days becuz it transported me into this world of bird adoration. I have always been into flowers. At age 7 I started signing my name with a flower at the end (flower child day, back then in the 1960's). When I read about your love for birds, I get the same feelings as when I was all about flowers (I still am, big garden). This phrase "downy gold gown of yellow" felt a little bit repetitive becuz "gold" and "yellow" are almost the same concept. But the way this phrase SOUNDS is so good, I could overlook this bump. The phrase "feathered cello" is brilliant word-crafting . . . simple, but carrying a wealth of meaning & imagery. The "tweet tweet" and "sweet sweet" part of your poem is the kind of thing that gets a reader involved . . . your message is dynamic & it pulls the reader in to your joyful expressions. The second to last line is my favorite of the whole poem (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I friend requested you, so you can read request me occasionally, if I forget to stop by.
