Procrastination

Procrastination

A Poem by Trillian

I gaze into the future
I run into a wall
I sit at my computer
And I begin to stall

Maybe I'll just sit in bed
Maybe I'll muffle the worry
The anxiety and fear and dread
Oh! That kitten's cute and furry

Why does it matter now?
I am only so young
My hand pressures my brow
And no ideas are sprung

I could be a writer!
An engineer, a cook!
But no one would eat my food
Or read my silly books

No, for now I'll sit here
My mind can rest once more
Of course, it will be all clear
Just like it's been before

Oh how I can relate! I get home from school, have a leisurely snack, watch some TV, browse websites or work on my story, and then after several hours I begin my homework. Often it carries late into the night, past 12 o'clock at times. Good thing I have a high tolerance for a "no sleep" schedule. I'll do this all through the week, and then basically sleep through the weekend to catch up on my sleep.

This made me laugh, which I really needed. This is a great piece and it's something a lot of people can relate to. I do the same thing: I sit and list all sorts of things I should be doing, and instead, I end up on this website or sleeping, or sitting around being anything but productive. You did a great job of writing about it. x
