Build me up N Break me Down

Build me up N Break me Down

A Poem by Cats Eye

I never felt so strong until I was with you

Through your promises I only became stronger

Then my walls came tumbling down

My heart was broken

My life left so black and alone

No to truly understand

No one to truly care

I was built up only to be torn down

All this pain is useless

To think that you might possible care

All this pain is useless

To think you might sober up long enough to see

All this pain is useless

To think you would rather ditch a friend for a user

All this pain is useless

To think you could see what’s happening in front of you

All this pain is useless

To think you cared for me then the users

For all the pain, why do I even bother to still remain your friend?

A reflection of the unfortunate pull of connection to people. Even as they turn on us, we sometimes still hold them dear. The last line provides a nice pondering point for the reader. Nice poem, thanks for sharing.

Why indeed?

If someone builds you up you have to understand you will fall from that pedistal they have sat you on. It is better to keep you mind humbled and never allow one to build you into anything that your not. If you have to question friendship then I ask, is it worth it?

I think you mean "No one to truly understand". Also, "To think you might possibly care". Read back over the next to last line, do you mean "then cared for the users"? Anyway, I can tell that you're concerned for your friend and that you're at the crossroads of staying with them to help them out of the dark or leaving them where they are and them facing the consequences of their actions. It's easy to see that this comes from the heart. Best wishes.
