I Heard A Voice

I Heard A Voice

A Poem by Cats Eye

I heard the voice of the most blessing deed
My dear little sister’s voice
It still races through my veins
Making my skin shiver

Those tears I shed silently that day
Were those of tears of joy
For I never thought I’d hear
That lovely little voice again

Smiling the whole time
As you talked
About how school is going for you
Or about your 3 new brothers

How lovely it was
To hear that sing-song voice of yours
Bringing the best side out of everyone around you
Bringing every one around you together at last

Where had the time gone
Seven already
Wow, my mind must have blown out the window
Since that time I saw you

No ever saw those silent tears
I shed just for you that day
Oh, how my heart still aches
Just to see your bright and cheery face

The face that I haven’t seen
For almost three years
How I wish for you to have been by my side
That night that I heard you voice

But alas
I shall only be blessed
To see the lovely young lady are
In my dreams

Hopefully
We shall soon
Meet again and maybe
This time you’ll stay by my side.

Very interesting poem. It seems as if the narrator feels some sense of responsibility, perhaps more so in hindsight (e.g. what if I was there), for the loss of their sister. A moment that the mind gives whisper of that post voice sparks questions about what could be. This one made me ponder the story, what's behind it, and I really love that quality about this poem.

Obviously you love your little sister and this poem is for her. I can tell that she is the glue that keeps you together, even from a far. Really nicce. Keep up the great work. :)

This is a great tribute to those who brought us joy and left us too soon as their journey was quite different from our own! Well Done!

this is a sweet poem with a sad undertone. It is almost as if the sister is no longer alive or the narrator is no longer alive. the sentiment is sweet and caring with a hint of being sad.

Very touching and hopeful verse....with a dash of sadness. I've come to learn that some of the sweetest, breathtaking moments actually came from a moment of bitter. I feel that this verse started in your heart and then flowed from pen to paper. I would love do-overs and given that chance I would right those that have left or have been missed in my life. Wonderful, heartfelt write!
