Too Times Too Many

Too Times Too Many

A Poem by Cats Eye

I’ve given you chances
But all have failed
I’ve given you warnings
But without success

I’m done with hoping
Since my hopes mean nothing to you
I’m done with this friendship
I’m through with dealing with you

For awhile it went great
Then it all fell apart
Our futures as friends flew high
Now the have collided and sank

Why must this happen now
All because of what one person does
It’s clear to me now
That a group is more important then just two

We’ve been friends for a long time
That’s obviously been too long for you
Never listening to us
It’s always about them

My has been broken
Too times too many
Each time it’s been mended
It has unraveled again

Our friendship was long
I wish it was longer
It’s clear to me you really don’t care
Always making more time for them then for us

Always protecting them
Never us
Always giving into their whining and complaining
Yet never listening to us

They give us looks
Looks of their Victory over you
They mock their victory
Just to see us hurt

While you laugh and talk
We sit in sadness and pain
You yell at us
You say we’re talking behind you back

We’ve never talked about you behind your back
While they do it all the time
You’ve lied to us one too many times
Yet never to them

Even others see my point
But never you
I’m tired of you
Tired of being treated like were you’re trash you’ve left on the streets

Always ditching me for them
But never them for me
I see you like the druggies/w****s
More then you do us

I’m sorry I don’t like the fact
The fact of getting wasted whenever I can
I’m sorry my parents raised me to do what’s right

I’m human to you know
I care, I love, I hate
I feel pain just like you
What can I say but you’ve failed a perfect friendship.

I sense the chaos of frustration when I read this...and the pain in the loss that is accompanying the reality of letting go. The undercurrent here is intense, and there is much vulnerability expressed. An energetic write!

The eixistential territory of friendship... us vs them, mine vs theirs, my morals vs their/your morals. The questions: do you care anymore? Is the relationship worth being salvaged? Why?
So much depth in one poem. It would make a good introduction to a story.
