Faded

Faded

A Poem by Zan

How can I be so empty
when everyone is near?
If the pane of glass between us
breaks, what is there to fear?
Can't you see me trying
to break free from this cage?
and fall into your arms -
stay there until old-age.
Yet I fear that as I tear down
you begin to build.
You hold me at arms length;
a smile has me thrilled.
Perhaps I need to back away
and then you'd realize
you're more faded to the world
than you were in my eyes.
