What lies beneath

What lies beneath

A Poem by Zan

What lies beneath your frozen heart
Could there be layers left to thaw?
Cloaked in darkness, drenched in tears
I'm lost in love, bloody and raw

Let me find that spark, that finger flame
That lights me up when you say my name
And burn your ice palace down
Burn it down to the ground

Behind the mask and heartless gaze
Your sword of lies, your shield of pain
There is a tremble when we touch
Your love, desire, cannot be feigned

So let me find that finger flame
Hiding behind your pain and shame
And burn your ice palace down
I won't let you hit the ground

So tell me love
What lies beneath?
Is there a soul
I'll want to keep?
