Lion

Lion

A Poem by Zan

Jungle Lord

how'd thee aford

those fearful marks and scrapes?

Tis not sin?

To cut and skin?

And make thy fur their capes?

Who dare mar

and cut and scar

thy gorgeous tawny hide?

They had not

reason for shot

in den thou did abide

Twas mere fear

that drove them 'ere

to take thy precious hide.

Thou shouldn't need

to wince nor bleed

for twas their fault alone

they were made

so much afraid

of thy jungle throne.

Mighty Beast

thou were made pay

for the sins of many

and thou wilt go

to heaven if

it be so for any.
