Bone Tissue

Bone Tissue

A Poem by A. A. Zambrana
"

Our bones are mysteries, even to ourselves.

"

Haven't you drilled these bones enough?

The dust spraying out to gather on the skin

But the holes that are left are not empty

You have dug your way in to find they are stuffed to the brim with bits of soul

That I've remained ignorant of since the tissue formed

But now, I feel them flowing within the center of my ribs and vertebrae

Pushing through gradually as though slowed down by thought

My curiosity is instantly consumed by your aggressive intrigue

And when you press your lips to the hole in my breast plate

And pull my marrow onto your tongue

The mysterious pieces spill out to fill your mouth

Until you are suffused with the parts of me

I did not know existed until you went looking

Scavenging as though you'd known exactly where to look

Sensing something abstruse within my skeleton you had to taste and take hold of

And now that it is settling in your belly and dripping down your lips

You seem contented to have found it

That you have tasted the last lingering arcane part there is

Now seemingly educated in all that you've just swallowed

While I remain quite blatantly unconscious

Of what exactly it is my bones have been made up of this entire time

I'm only 19, I feel I'm too young to have a Biography. I think the most eloquent and honest biography I could assemble is quite simply interwoven in all of my poetry. Except that none of my poems ment.. more..
