YET I FIND MYSELF

YET I FIND MYSELF

A Poem by Zamantungwa Da Poetess

Lost in the midst of his charm
Though I know no truth can his lips ever utter
And no chance of commitment is seen in his future,
Yet I find myself...

Believing that my world is square when he is in it
Though I know that is not what science proves
Everything is reasonable when he walks in
Though practicality says otherwise
Yet I find myself...

Loving him for all the times he has hurt me
Though I know this isn't the correct order of things
Appreciating the broken promises even though its more than them that breaks
But still I find myself...

Worshiping in the service of punches that he throws at me
The only attention he pays me
Cherishing the humiliation in his words when he speaks my imperfections as a joke in his circles
At least he notices I exist
As I still find myself...
