She Wished For Forever

She Wished For Forever

A Poem by Zall
"

It's actually in song form, but it's about this woman, and her fiance has just died in war.

"

She wished for forever

She wished for forever,

Looking at what could have been,

“Baby, why’d you have to leave?” rolling off her tongue.

If this had never happened she could see the children,

(Ooooo, see their children,)

Running from the porch into their Daddy’s arms,

All dressed in dark blue, meddles pinned to one side,

Bright stars shinning high.

(Bright stars, bright stars shinning high)

“I missed you today,” is what he’d say,

(Ooooo,)

“Baby I know it.”

[Chorus]

Baby why’d you leave me,

I can see your face,

Once smiling at me now forever fade away,

Eyes so peaceful I wish I was there,

Oh baby, baby,

Why’d you leave me?

[End chorus]

But that was then and now forever will never come,

Rain from her eyes hits the grass,

A single shot rang though the air,

She listens until it fades,

(Fades away, fades away,)

“Baby, why’d you have to leave?” rolling off her tongue.

[Chorus]

Baby why’d you leave me,

I can see your face,

Once smiling at me now forever fade away,

Eyes so peaceful I wish I was there,

Oh baby, baby,

Why’d you leave me?

[End chorus]

If this had never happened she could see their day,

All dressed in black and white,

Yellow flowers in her hair,

(In her hair,)

And sand beneath their toes,

“I missed you today,” is what he’d say,

(Ooooo,)

“Baby I know it.”

[Chorus]

Baby why’d you leave me,

I can see your face,

Once smiling at me now forever fade away,

Eyes so peaceful I wish I was there,

Oh baby, baby,

Why’d you leave me?

[End chorus]

Once more she looked down,

Clutching that cloth to her chest,

A hand on her shoulder she see’s his fellow soldier,

All dressed in dark blue, meddles pinned to one side,

Just as he used to wear,

And once more

(Oooo, once more,)

“Baby, why’d you have to leave?” rolling off her tongue.

Sorry if it's bad; it's my first attempt at a song form.
