Never Ending War; Letters

For if my heart could withstand no more,

Would this be the end?

The end of this never ending war?

For one day, I am sure,

There will be a time, a place, a way,

For there to be no more.

 

My Darling,

Will there be no end?

For time and time again I catch myself wondering,

Is today the day?

The day where there will be peace?

The day where nothing will cease to be?

If even just for me?

The day where one day I will be back in your arms,

With only my memories to haunt the dreadful wake of day.

 

For if I cannot make it one more day,

What are the words I wish to say?

There are so many, yet I can think of none.

But I am sure of one thing and one thing only,

There will be no more, and ending to this war.

 

 My Dearest,

When will this all end?

When will there be no more pain, no more suffering, no more sorrow?

Will that day never come?

I fear that one day, today, tomorrow, or never,

That my arms will never be around you, and with that,

Yours around me, for there is no end,

No end at all, to this never ending war.

 

For today is the day,

The day where the choice is mine,

Mine and mine alone.

The choice that is the hardest I’ve ever made;

What do I say?

Today is the day,

Today is my day,

There is no end to this war,

It will forever be the never ending war,

So now I have just one more thing I must say,

I must tell you the thing that pains me the most,

For today is the day,

The day I say goodbye.
