Dreams
By: Julia Lautizi
Finding dreams,
Like that perfect song,
Always setting a soul free,
And when finally found,
It’s out of tune and wrong,
To pitchy,
To short to use,
Just another lost dream.

Chasing dreams,
Like a butterfly in a field,
Always just out of reach,
And when finally reached,
It’s broken and worn,
Not quite the same as it once was,
To tired,
To old to go on,
Just another tattered dream.

Starting dreams,
Like a race,
Always a person behind,
And when all caught up,
It’s over,
Not quite good enough,
To long,
To far to go,
Just another hopeless dream.

Ending dreams,
Like an old movie,
Always black and white,
And when it’s over,
It tells who participated,
Telling who started it all,
To late,
To behind the time,
Just a new beginning for another dream.
