The steps into the life of a loved one. The only way to do so is one step at a time.

The Steps Into Life Poem
Left foot.
That was the first step into your life.
I still had time to back out;
Yet I didn’t;
And you took the same step into my life.
Filled with new expectations.
Right foot.
That was the second step into your life.
A hand to hold.
A shoulder to lean on.
Filled with new feelings.
Left foot.
The third step.
Deeper I went into your life;
And deeper you came into mine.
A kiss long awaited.
Virgin lips gone;
Filled with new experiences.
Right foot.
A fourth step.
So far in;
Too late to turn around.
I don’t want to;
As long as you’re here.
That first fight;
Words hurt the most.
Filled with new pain.
Left foot.
So far gone.
A new home;
A ring;
A dress.
Filled with new joy.
Right foot.
Lost in an ocean of dreams.
The final words;
I do.
Belly getting larger.
A hand running across in a caress.
Filled with new thoughts.
Left foot.
The world isn’t large enough.
Little ones running around.
A crash;
The window;
A baseball;
A sad smile and an apologetic face.
A hug;
A kiss;
A husband;
A couple of children.
Filled with a new life;
Never ending.
Left foot.
Right foot.
The steps to life.
Left foot,
Right foot,
Left,
Right,
Left.
