The Maddening Hope

The Maddening Hope

A Poem by Zalinthel
"

Have you ever felt as though the thing in your life keeping you sane, was also the thing driving you to madness?

"

I find a conundrum, a confusion of truths.

A paradox, a nonsensical reality

Wherein a factor, a part of my life

That manages to both, in such impossibility

To both fuel and snuff the flame, that is my soul

It is my salvation and my doom, my hope and my despair

It brings me sanity but engulfs me in madness, and I ask,

“Why can you not choose? Let me live or let me die!”

And yet it persists, keeping me in a stasis

A state of limbo, wherein I slowly go insane while yet being saved

Leaving me in everlasting, sorrowed bliss.
