Angel

Angel

A Poem by Zalinthel
"

Need I explain these words?

"

I existed in wandering, struggling to find another

Who shared the thoughts that corroded my conscience

The world seemed an icy reality, scorning me and my loneliness with its spite

Taunting me with promises of happiness and joy, and snatching them away

But then, a light in the omnipresent shroud of the darkness that is the universe

Which lacked the malevolent shadow the others before it boasted

She had always been there, hidden in the black of my foolish ignorance

And yet in that golden glory, I could sense a darkness of its own

But not one of malice; one of sorrow

In my frozen reality, the realization that I was not alone smote away the frostbite of the years

And left me determined, to do the same

For that which had released me from the vise-like grip of lone-some sorrow.
