Innocence

Innocence

A Poem by Zalinthel
"

Read and let the words themselves describe what I cannot

"

With innocent eyes I bore my first glances upon the world, blessed with ignorance

The sun shined its gold, soothing light, the trees and flowers bloomed with life, and the world was alive

But, my wonderful daydream come true, was naught to last, for then they came

Subtle demons, guised with faces that resembled my own, scattered a shadow over my reality

I tried to wipe the unknown blackness from my sight, but they would not be repelled, and shrouded the

once beautiful colors with a menacing void

I was horrified, my paradise was now a ruin, a shambled torment of what once was lovely

In terror, I struck out at the beings before me, commanding them to let me return to the past

But they merely mocked me, and threw me to the ground, leaving me powerless to watch

As the world I once viewed, when blessed with ignorance with innocent eyes, crumbled away
