Forest Man

Forest Man

A Poem by aaaa
"

A man that lives in the forest.

"

A man walks through the forest so green

Seeing sights few men have ever seen

Walking over paths, so old

walking over paths untold

He grows old, his beard grows gray

He continues to walk anyway

He walks from the edge of the world, and back

Few men can ever say that

He has seen mountains that tear the sky

He has walked where the birds fly high

He has climbed the cave with beasts of evil

No one knows when he will

Stop walking over his forest path

He walks to escape the city's wrath

The city who kill the land with its spires

It kills the world, it paves the mires

He will some day die, this we know

With a grave unmarked, that will never show

City's will come and build the land

Industry will come and stretch its hand

No one will remember this man so great

He who walk paths and twisted fate

He was the only one who lived without a prison

He alone knew true wisdom

Say goodbye to this man of the wild

Say goodbye to the man who filled

The shoes of walkers that came before

Say goodbye to the man who did so much more

Memory shall fade into the night

His story will leave without a fight

No one will remember this wanderer

His true nature we can only ponder

really, really great. i love the last four stanzas, there's something about the description and recall of the past...can't quite put my finger on it, but i think its so awesome. i love the subject of human nature and essence, i think you did a great job portraying it.

I was thinking of a modern day Thoueau, but then realized that I know Men such as the character in your poem.I'm not much on rhyme, the message, and what the piece leaves you, is what I value most.
Muy Bien

this poem is very simple but also very powerful- it definitely brings the issue of industrialization and the human presence on earth to the forefront. the only thing i can suggest with this poem is to read it out loud and see what works and what doesnt- there are one or two lines that dont flow with the rest of the poem, but nothing too drastic- just trim down or add a word or two.

This is a good poem. It reminds me a lot of Tom Bombadil for Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Ring. The flow was very good and I liked how it seemed to be an epic poem in the books I read. The rhyme was okay. Some of the end rhymes did not rhyme but the flow and rhythm of it were very skillfully played. As a whole I loved it. Keep writing

This is an amazing write it reminds me of a time when I was down in Chihuahua Mexico in a small town called Cuiteco similar to what you describe in this piece, at least a 10 hour train ride from the city. People there live a simple life, it’s as country, as country can get, no cars, no electricity the only night light they get is the moon when it’s out. There’s a massage here most definably, great job well done.
