If one day you look back and see someone who wasn't there before...don't panic. It's just life, or the lack thereof.

One in a Million

On the lush west coast of California, sheltered by the purple mountains, there are many, many cities. Some of them are old, some are brand new. But a few were not just new, they were growing. Especially a small town called Chivlary. A major road stretched down through the city, the main road.

If you followed that road through the town in the early time of the morning you might see the mustached shop owners or restaurant proprietors out and about, polishing their windows or sweeping the walks in the front. Or you’d notice the careful eyed barbers turning their signs from “Closed” to “Open”. This was the main section of the town, but If you followed the side streets, you would find yourself on well tended, quiet streets.

Here, a new generation of children played on the sidewalks, the mothers and fathers watched from their doorsteps of new houses, and the sun shone down upon the tree-lined walkways.

This place, though inhabited by humans, reflected a sort of nineteen-fifties america. Perhaps it was because the people who lived in this town, walked these sidewalks, and lived in these homes knew what it meant to be an American. They knew the middle class wealth.

And One inimitable thing people noticed was that the mountains were not blocked by buildings, and they often shone dark mauve or shining navy in the morning light, when the sun was behind them. It was pure.

And on a new morning when the sun was shining in the sky, a boy walked through the quiet, suburban roads near his house. His eyes were a bright hazel, always looking around at things, noticing. It was as if he was looking at the world with a new perspective. He was thin, but appeared to be growing quickly, gaining muscle and tone on his body. He had a backpack slung over his shoulder.

Eventually, after many turns at intersections and quiet roads, he arrived at at school. It was on the edge of the town. It had no gates, and its blue-painted double doors stood wide open. The young man soon reached the gates, and eventually, the doors into its halls.

He passed into the school and as his eyes adjusted, he looked around, taking it all in. The walls of the hall were newly painted a pure white. The lockers were a light blue in color. The lights that shone on the ceilings were bright and fluent.

Eventually, he arrived at a closed door, room five. He stood for a second, then took a deep breath, and entered the room.

***************

The boy sat in class that same morning, in that same room. The class was chemistry, and the teacher, a tall lady with blonde hair and a pushy demeanor, spoke to the class.

"Class, now that we've gone over the basic rules of this classroom, which you should all be used to, we will now begin our first assignment..."

In front of him was a huge kid, muscular, with spiky hair and...gave off a bad odor. Behind him was a small white girl with a pink shirt and glasses, and sat straight up in her seat. In the other seats throughout, were students of all sorts. Every race, shape, size, disorder, aura and "attentiveness-to-the-teacher" level.

As his teacher spoke on, the young man began to look around, looking at each individual person. He was sitting in a row against the left wall. Each column had 6 desks, in 5 rows. 29 students...with one empty seat.

He soon turned his attention back to the teacher. She was now passing out stacks of paper to the first student in each column, and telling them to "take one and pass it."

         Suddenly, he shivered.

'It's so cold...' The boy thought.

As he looked around the room again, he became uneasy with the environment, as if something was out of place...

So he as he sat in his chair, he counted the number of students in the classroom again ...28...29...30. 'No empty seats. What?' He thought.

He recounted the students again...28...29...30. Where was the new person...there she was. A girl on the opposite side of the room that he hadn't noticed before. She was sitting in the seat that had been empty when he had counted the first time. She was sitting against the window, looking outside.

'what the? That girl didn't come in any time. He thought as he shivered and rubbed himself. The temperature had seemed to dropped 25 degrees, yet nobody else had noticed.

'something has changed in this room.' He stared at the girl again.

That was when the girl turned around. And looked straight at the boy.

She was a pale, noticably pretty young lady. Her skin was fair, with not a trace of a freckle. Her facial features were delicate and seemed to be twinged with happiness, along with a graceful remorse. Her mouth was supple and calm. Her whole face had an unreal, dark condition upon it. And the hair...it was long, ruffled and dusty blonde. She wore old fashioned pants and a t-shirt that was huge on her lean frame

'that's not normal' Thought the boy

Her eyes were not normal. They were not only a eerily uncommon shade of blue, but in the center there was no central pupil. No foundation. Yet...they carried a powerful passion, as if the girl wanted to tell the boy something more than anything else in the world.

No matter how hard the boy tried, he could not look away from the girl that sat before him. She was so...addictively beautiful.  It was so strange, but looking at her just made him forget everything terrible, evil or painful that had happened to him. All he could focus on was this girl. Everything else seemed so insignifigant.

Suddenly, she smiled sorrowfully at him and mouthed three words, though no sound came from her lips.

The boy suddenly felt sleepy and easygoing. He became unable to even comprehend what was happening. The room, and everything, dissapeared into a haze of a silhoutette. All that was left was  the ghostly beautiful young lady.

         'So wonderful...' He thought

As the boy continued to stare at her infatuatedly, she rose up from her seat. She simply walked over to the dumbfounded boy, then embraced him softly, then kissed him ever so lovingly on the cheek. And the beautifully pale maiden whispered her words once more into his ear. The young man closed his eyes with a smile.

As the boy went limp in her arms, she pulled away and looked with sorrow at the dead eyes now before her. She set him gently on the cold classroom floor kissed him on the cheek again, then stood up again. Then, the girl sorrowfully and aimlessly walked away from the body. She turned to look back at him, and a silent tear flowed down her cheek...

This was a nice piece. It was a sad piece. I believe she was there to lead him to his death. His infatuation grew with her which made her more hungry for his love. This story was very interesting. I really enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing.
