1.       A soldier returns from a war, having lost a limb and very close to losing his sanity, finds his family kidnapped by an old enemy from his time in the field.

 

2.       A lonely college student, who desires to write moving stories and make something of his life, is thrust into a rivalry with a fellow female college student over the love of a woman.

 

3.       A space explorer leaves earth to find life on other planets: he finds it, but cannot radio or return back home because he crashes, so he must learn to deal with the likes of alien criminals many times more dangerous than he, alien people with emotions that humans never developed, and the reality that his life will be shortened by 20 years.
