Chapter 3

I never explained the whole story, but you probably understand? Elijah saved me, he saved me that afternoon. Saved me from a whole world of terror I was about to enter- not to mention the details. I don’t know what happened to that man who tried to possibly kidnap me, and neither do I know why he suddenly followed me though he was in a hurry to get somewhere else. I am not even sure if he was the one who grabbed me it could have been anyone!

Nevertheless, ever since then, Elijah has been my best friend. I have a fond relationship with him, he always helps me. The best thing is he can come literally anywhere with me, and no one knows about it. Elijah is my invisible friend…

It was midnight, no it was probably almost dawn. Feeling dainty and tired, walking slowly down the flat corridor, almost going to the wrong house. Again, I forgot to lock the door, even to close it! Elijah made me go home by myself. He went to take me to some useless football match and some other places. He seemed to be okay staying up even later.

Hurling my body upon my bed carelessly, fortunately mom hadn’t woken up yet. Before I knew it, the ear-piercing sound of my alarm clock disturbed me. I probably only got an hour of sleep. It was Monday morning, worst day of the week. I wasn’t ready for this. picking up my alarm, solely intending to throw it out my room, I hear my mom’s footsteps- she’s up. No, I have no escape this time.

Eventually, I found myself walking on my way to school, wondering where in the world Elijah could possibly be. The harsh bleak and frosty swirls of air prickled my skin, and the wisps of fur from my hood tickled my face. I could feel the cold air sinking into my bones and knees as I strode, trying to slice through the wind. Looking up to the grey dull sky reading the dark gloomy stories the clouds told, ruining my mood even more- today isn’t my day…

Arriving at school. As usual late, I tried to avoid eye contact with people, especially my teacher. I felt a little awkward having the whole class glare at me again. The face of someone I didn’t recognise quickly caught my attention. He’s sharing my table now. I had not the slightest clue who he was.

The blonde seems nice and friendly, class was already half way through, I couldn’t do much really. My blood-shot eyes were still not quite open though. I cursed my decision to leave my pencil case back home. Why would I do that? Trying to curl myself in a ball. I went back to sleep.

My teacher was already so used to me doing so I wasn’t surprised she didn’t really react. The other students usually throw some trash at me but I never have the motivation to get upset. However, today was different- I didn’t feel anything being thrown at me. Perhaps it was the new student. But even on my first day I didn’t really get that type of kind service at all. Math is probably one of the most worst subjects to have for a Monday morning.

Most of the morning went by, it was boring as usual. But the new student seemed to be quite cool, and no one was bothering him somehow. His name was Adriel, quite a nice name. It was starting to rain- which meant indoor break time. I wouldn’t mind getting drenched in water. It’s what I wanted, but instead I could only watch the thick icy raindrop pelt and soon storm against the school windows.

I could hear the whistling and howling of the rain outside, I quickly began to feel a bit scared and was already unwilling to go outside. Adriel was sitting next to the popular kids this lunch time, (where I would never sit) he already made quite a lot of friends and he even had the latest phone. He must come from some rich family. His shoes were those that I’d never get even if I worked a lifetime for them.

It was only a day and he was practically ruling the school, the teachers admired him, the bullies left him alone, and even the girls were fans of him. I eagerly wanted to know him more at this point. Lunch was almost over- I didn’t really have much to eat, my appetite is poor today.

I waited for the day to end for me to get a chance to speak to him.

“Hi, I am Iven- what’s your name?” I foolishly asked though I already knew

“Hi, I already know you and eh, my name is Adriel- bye I have to go now” he said while packing up his bags, ready to go off.

My face was burning hot, which I could feel with my frosty ice-like fingers. I tried socializing but it went out like this and there was only one thing I could do…

“Wait! Do you… Want to be my friend? I mean please can you be my friend?” I quickly shouted down the corridor before he went too far. It kind of put me in awkward situation making my face burn even brighter than before.

“Of course, but I’m not sharing my umbrella with you ha-ha…” I immediately heard him say right before he left

I wondered how Elijah was doing…
