The greatest love story

The greatest love story

A Poem by Sapphire Bloom

"You gave me peace, in a lifetime of war" ~ Achilles, Troy

At first you were my enemy. Each of us awaiting on either side of a solid wall, awaiting attack or defence.

Our battle not going anywhere, yet us keeping at it for so long...

Until I was captured by you.

Under your clutch, I fought you... Endlessly

Demanding I be left alone and returned.

Yet you never took note of my plea.

You protected me from harm.

I didnt need you to... But you did.

You made sure I was looked after in my time of capture...

An immortal like you, so mortal in feeling.

I never could figure you out...

Understand what you're truely think...

I remain unsure.

Until I finally attempted one last time, putting and end to my confusion and capture...

However, you beat me to it...

You showed me a side of you I had not known...

A warrior to the world, but a lover to me...

A man who takes the lives of others, yet gives life to me.

Amazed I was, yet more confused...

The war around us intensified, loved ones were lost...

Until it came to the final battle...

Face to face you came with your enemy... The one that had started this whole war.

That was when it had hit me... I realised that your end was nigh...

As quick as an arrow leaves the bow of its archer, I saw you fall.

My instincts pushing me to make my way towards you...

Not a single word to leave my mouth...

Yet you read my expression, and answered...

"You gave me peace, in a lifetime of war"
