The Shadows, the Flashlight.A Poem by Zackery Alan DaleyA poem about darkness and loneliness.I'm not afraid to say I'm afraid. Its all okay, hopefully. Skies these days are so gray... The satire, the sarcasm, misunderstood intellect. Ovid, Plato, Aristotle, What philosophies are these? Another Sartre narrative of existentialism, dulls the sharpened mind.
O what of Alexander and his great campaigns? The fear of the Golden Horde, A Macedonian Phalanx, the Roman Testudo. A dampened cloth smothering the flame of progression.
Is it so out dated? Do you not also see the reverse of our ages? It appears our shadow cast forward, Egypt still burns as it has for millennia. The people "advance" throughout our ages. This is our nuclear age, the time of demi-gods. Safety an illusion of the mind. The only safety is trust. The fact is our race is limitless, Unless we have the grace and humility. There is to be nothing left but shadows. This is who and what we are.
