UmbrellaA Story by ZackOfBridgeHere's to you
There is this alternate universe. Besides some minor technical differences, it is a universe similar to the original universe (ours of course). One of those technical differences is the design of the standard umbrella. In the original universe we’ve got the umbrella that covers only the most important part of the human anatomy, the head. To contrast, this other universe’s Earth uses an umbrella that covers the whole of the body. It is a unique design to say the very least, and most umbrella manufacturers in the this universe are kicking themselves for not thinking of it first because, as you well know, the legality of a patent spans all universes.
But if we take a closer look at the societal impacts of this alternate umbrella design we come to find that the people of this alternate Earth are completely void of a certain human encounter previously taken for granted. This is the encounter when a male or female is in the midst of a steady downpour but are staying dry by means of the standard umbrella we know and love in this universe. They see a person of the opposite sex, or same sex, who is without an umbrella and invite them underneath the umbrella, which is open and spacious enough for two. Naturally the two experience undying love for one another and spend the remainder of their lives in soulmatery. In the other universe of the overhanging umbrella, this encounter is simply impossible. There are of course infinite amounts of alternate universes all of course stemming from the original universe. Some become very different than the original universe. For example, in a certain universe the people have several techniques to finding their truest of loves other than solely using an umbrella. Yes very strange, they also use the umbrella technique but more often they venture out; they rely on bars, parties, the internet, and other gatherings to find a mate. It does seem infinitely more complex than simply presenting an umbrella to a potential soulmate. © 2014 ZackOfBridge |
