When it's night

Walking into the darkness of a winter night what do you expect? The howling of dogs to the moon you expect. The screeches of a cat being slayn by another creature of the night you can expect. Your own foot steps puddling in the blackness beneath you know to expect. But do you ever expect another person walking the same frozen path? Do you expect another to chatter their teeth at the same cold that you do? Do you expect another to be listening to those confined howlers and the defeated screechers? I don't.

Huh, I find it so strange to be confronted with the concept of other human life. The idea that other humans exist and feel and hear the same things as me. That the humans out there aren't that different from myself. I'm not the only existence, there are others. Thank you for this enlightening read.
