The Bench

The Bench

A Poem by Zachary Dary

The world turns.
The wind blows.
All around me,
The people walk.
The couples cuddle.
The friends talk.
And yet I,
Just sit here.
Hoping that someone
Will sit down
Here with me.
The music plays
In my mind.
A sad song.
I don't speak.
My lips, sealed,
Closed shut, locked.
Tears forced back,
I die inside.
I yearn to
Cry out loudly
"Why don't you
Open your eyes
Open your hearts!"
Everyone has gone.
So I stand.
Alone and helpless.

I really think almost everyone can relate to this in one way or another at one point or another in their lives. I really like the style you gave it and the way you really focused on the development of your own voice and perspective within this write. I'm sorry for whatever inspired it; however, it is wonderfully penned.

Rivetting ! Exceptional !!

3 words, enough to paint a beautiful portrait. Nice alliteration, perfect fit for the short paced piece !
Great work, you have a bright future ! Continue writing, and continue to be witty in it.

Cheers !

The opening of this poem brings me in by reminding me of the mundane aspect of life we somehow yearn for constantly; the wind, motion, interaction and then reminds me of the solemn moments we have alone that produce a profound sadness touched by subtle beauty. keep it up.

You have nicely depicted what you are experiencing inside your mind.
