Trade Winds

Trade Winds

A Poem by Zakari Schmidt
"

When I am submerged

"
Waves came crashing down
on top of moonlit shores,
each of them were stars
above aphotic floors
Never standing still,
always going away
I hold on to one
but it does not remain

Currents look like contrails
scattered through the sky,
moving to this destination
in my mind
Somewhere distant from
sedimentary faith
When I am submerged
you become everything

There is a seashell
that I can not forget,
buried on a beach
within my loneliness
Someone else is sand
and fills up every choice
Each grain understands
that I can hear your voice
sound like the ocean

A amazing poem. My favorite topics. Thoughts and the sea.

Thanks for the review I'm glad you liked it! :)
this one is one of your more affecting pieces.. it tugs on the heartstrings in waves of emotion that wash over the reader.. the breeze of hope still flows in this one as the waves try to knock you down.. feels bittersweet.. people that come and go with their bright shining lights that you want to hold on to, ever slipping through your fingers like the sand on the shore of your loneliness, but that beautiful shell that touched your heart is still out there somewhere, and if you dig deep enough you can remember every line, every crevice, and how it felt to touch.. the way the ocean sounded with it pressed to your heart.. this one is one of my favorites of yours.. I love it when a writer can make me feel.. and you have done this in such a beautifully subtle way.. that it tenderly caresses those heartstrings as it gives it little gentle tugs.. you are so talented and it is always such a joy to read your works.. stunning job with this one my friend.. :)

This is quite pretty. However I'd have wanted this to end with the first stanza alone. Its complete to me and if you considered using a word to rhyme with 'away', I would've loved the overall effect.
As in -
'shores'
'floors'
'away'
'?'

Generally rhyme schemes sound kiddie but when used with the right words to the right effect it can be gorgeous, if you know what I mean. :)

that is stanza touched my soul and me fell like i wasn't the only one who is hopelessly lost in idea of someone i can never have. its hard to understand that there are people who can relate to the pain i fell, the way it grabs me by the heart, dragging me into a dark hole. i often forget that i am the only person in the world he is in a battle. honestly i loved this poem so much. it is one of the greatest feelings the world to be comforted by the words of someone else. for it is at the moment when reality hits you with a smile and the weights are lifted off your shoulders because for the first time in a long time you realized you are not alone. i loved this soooo much! it was beautifully tragic and took me away.

This was very enchanting. The voice... My interpretation may not be as intended but it sounds like the voice of reason, reassurance. Perhaps within you, the shell enabling you to hear what you already know.
