Of an OrchardA Poem by Zakari SchmidtLike a leaf upon the river
I have spent the past few months
far outside of the circle Fingers intertwined become connected through a spiral If I were in the middle I would follow every motion, like a leaf upon the river making its way to the ocean have fun, While I got caught up in the wind and lost all sense of my direction I asked my Mother Nature if she would make an exception for me One of her fallen leaves If I was sleeping with my roots, underneath our dying maple tree maybe I could change my colors and you'd look for me again But it seems I've found myself far outside of the orchard If I'm part of a cycle, I'll just keep moving forward to be gathered in a gutter or recycled with the seasons while you accept your fate, stick around without a reason why Goodbye There are some things poets words could never illustrate, but if we meet again then I could be part of the weight that crumbles you to pieces © 2015 Zakari SchmidtAuthor's Note
