Bloody Mary

Bloody Mary

A Poem by ZDMusgrove
"

Just a little something that popped into my head during history 102.

"
Your head, your head!
She wants it in a bed of red.
In one solid chop,
There comed a thump and plop.
Bloody queen!
Watch out for the streak that is o' so mean.
Mary, Mary
O' so contrary.
You claim it in the name of God,
But it is still murder all the same.
Watch her take off a head!
Hide yours, or become one of the dead.
Chop, chop, chop
That is not the cook's vegetables going plop.
My bloody queen,
Please stop being mean,
And be our sweet Mary,
Even if your hands are stained the colour of a cherry.
You bring us shame,
We dislike your n---.
Swish, chop.
There goes my head with a ka-plop.

Nice. The onomatopoeias made me smile. This was a neat piece to come back and read. Despite it's darkness it sounded very fun in my head. Like it was read sort of light heartedly. It reminds me of one of the twisted nursery rhymes you'd find in a culture book. Sorry if that doesn't make much sense >.>

This is very witty ZD - plenty of onomatopoeias and playful turn of phrase. Poor Mary's name was blackened by the Protestant Queen Elizabeth - In fact only 287 Protestant executions during her reign. In comparison her father, King Henry VIII, had been responsible for 57,000 deaths including men such as Sir Thomas More. A very early exercise in propaganda.
Good write my friend!
