She Said She'd StayA Poem by Yvette ShawThis is a poem I wrote, regarding a writer who was almost forced out by cruel and unnecessary judgments of careless people. I myself have received reviews that have been hurtful and offensive, we need to do better in support of each other. If you dislike
She Said She’d Stay
Always something to be said about the demon’s we all have living in our head
We try in silence, to make them leave, hopes of silence, again we plead.
With open hearts, we ask for help. For understanding, and guidance of what is felt.
No judgment or criticism we all cry. Just understanding, and maybe, an answer; Why?
We take our beatings, all our bruises, and we come up stronger: not our choosing.
A simple: it’s o.k., or, please just try. Would go a hell of a lot farther than: just fold and die.
With painstaking effort, she took the blow’s, from unwitting attackers, she did not know.
The choice to run, to disappear, and flea. Overcome by her strength and need to succeed.
She said she’d stay, a victorious day. For those who don’t appreciate that, Maybe you should go away…
For Belinda: Who found the strength to stay
