Parasitic blooms

Parasitic blooms

A Poem by Yvonne Dare

I am a violent being
I am vicious despite best efforts
I have created pain unabashedly
I have kissed limp palms
Still warm to the touch
I have peeled soft skin
Shapes and designs to be made of muscle
I have created violent art
Rust colored blooms settled deep within white fabric
I have sipped wine from broken glass bottles
Wasted flesh of which I beat till the death
Broken down every corner of the mind
I am a marking in each and every life
A small red spot that you hope never grows
I expand and expel every part of you that does not recognize me
I am parasitic
I am an infant screaming for your attention
Gurgles and chokes of displeasure and pain
Waiting for your recognition
I am a deeply volatile person
And despite best efforts
Nothing has yet to cure me
