When The Fire Goes Out

When The Fire Goes Out

A Poem by Yuzuki Cross

We are passionately swaying
But I knew I was doomed
from the start
when you lit a match
And aimed it at my heart

As I lay here
Confused and hurt
My lungs began to give out
And you dare turn away?
Then the fire goes out

Where did this come from?
What did I ever do
to deserve this sudden pain?
Is this a game to you?
My heart had been slain!

I hope she was worth it
The laughs, the kisses and the love
that we shared!
That was for us and us alone
Tell me to my face that you never cared!

Don't light my heart on fire
And leave me to die!
Tell me and leave me in serenity
So I can look back on life
and know I had plenty

Call me pathetic
But I'm walking with
a broken heart
Just know that this is truly
your miserable piece of art.
