Cliffside

Cliffside

A Poem by Humberto Contreras
"

Friendship , can it last forever?

"
I see you at the edge of a cliff
As you ask me, as if.
You fell, you cry,
Knowing this can't be helped.
You see the light , you see yourself.
You see the reflection of tears ,
as you hear the sea.
Now you can't go back,
because you lack the will.
How can you regret me,
when now this thing we have is ill.

A emotional ride in the poem. I like how you create place and thoughts. Some edges and cliffs are one way roads. I liked how you led to the logical and sad ending. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

As you ask me, as if.... (As if what?, What's the emphasis here?)....This poem is full of emotion. What caused the fall and tears (the parting) that can't be resolved?

Ok, not that you failed in that; rather, it's I who fail to comprehend.
