Idle Realization

Idle Realization

A Poem by Yumaz

Jasmine incense fills my nose

Rising softly from the golden geometrics

That once belonged to my wife’s grandmother

Astringent desert soliloquy occupies me

As I empty my mind.

I see God in the clouds and stones

Beauty in dusty desolation reminds me

A silent stream calls my name as I sit idly by

Thinking on things that will never be

Naïve child constantly disappointed by man.

Forgotten realities roar past on the wind

Screaming obvious obscenities and

Crushing perceptions long held dear

A new genuine reality takes shape

Shifting paradigms and opening chasms.

Dew from a red-veined

Leaf falls onto my brow.

I blink and return.
