MonsterA Poem by ScooterYet another poem that my teacher told us to write. No rhyme scheme, five words per line. We had to use an emotion, and I used sadness or fear of if my mother had actually not survived cancer.Thoughts like a massive storm, each fighting for freedom, release. Painless yet stinging fire behind wide eyes. Questions flow from her lips like a waterfall. Tight knots in her stomach, heart thrumming, threatening to shatter. Soothing words are whispered to her, but the monster holding her heart tightens its grip. The burn is gone, and now her face is wet, just as if it had suddenly started to pour rain. Staring at those expressionless features, the monster claims its victory. © 2010 ScooterAuthor's Note
