Prologue

"Spirit! S-Spirit!" A girl screeched, running around a town with a panicked look lacing her every feature. Her long orange hair was flowing wildly behind her, and her light blue eyes were filled with tears.

"Kara, Kara, calm down! I'm right here!" Another girl exclaimed, grabbing her shoulders. She immediately forced her face into the second's chest, sobbing uncontrollably. The second girl had deadly black hair with deep, royal purple eyes.

"It... it destroyed everything... everyone... it's gonna kill everyone again..." She whimpered, her sentences slowly fading back into pathetic cries.

"Kara, what the hell are you talking about? What destroyed everything? And what is 'everything'?" The girl named Spirit asked her.

"The dragon... my field... everything... it-it killed everyone... they all died..."

Spirit's face darkened as she spoke, finally sighing as Kara's voice broke with more cries to the darkness. "Kara, come on. You can explain at my house."

As they reached Spirit's house and entered, Kara began to explain what happened as Spirit made some sort of herbal beverage.

"It... was so sudden. A giant white dragon appeared from nowhere and began attacking with fury and no reason. Everyone was running everywhere, and it killed them... Spirit, I was too weak... I-"

Spirit cut her off. "You're not weak Kara. You survived. Anyone else would have panicked, and they would have died along with them."

  "...thank you."

Spirit sat a cup in front of Kara. She thanked her quietly and a silent moment ensued. It was evident that they were both deep in thought.

"I'm going after it." Spirit finally declared.

Kara choked on her drink. "Spirit, no! You can't! I can't let you die like the rest of them!" She shrieked

"And I can't let it kill anyone else. I'd be a pathetic soldier if I did, wouldn't I?" Spirit replied calmly. "I've been trained to kill things like this. It's my job to protect, and that's what I'm going to do. I'll leave once Jack get's here. I already called him over, I'm not leaving you alone."

"Spirit... please..." Kara set her cup down, walking over to Spirit and hugging her tightly. "Don't leave me alone..."

"Jack's going to be here in a few minutes. You'll be fine."

  "You know what I mean..."

Spirit smiled warmly. "Yeah. I know."

The door opened, and a boy came in, asking questions with a worried look. Just as she'd said, as soon as he came Spirit walked out. Kara ran to the window, watching as she walked away.

"Spirit! I'll murder you if you don't keep your promise!" Kara yelled after her. Spirit turned back, and smiled reassuringly. Then she disappeared into the forest as the sun set in the sky.

Author's Note

Due to a request from a certain review, I decided to write this! I'm absolute shit at the second-person view, so don't mind that. And yes, I ship Spirit and Kara very much. Even though I ask for fanfiction later on, hehe.
And the Prologue re-write is done! It's not that big, but I fixed a few parts that were bugging me.

Short and sweet I like it! Didn't notice any mistakes or typos.

Love this line
...a panicked look lacing her every feature.

The fact that spirits friend thinks it will kill spirit and Spirit doesn't deny it but responds stubbornly acts as a bit of a hook so that works really well.
