Between two roads

Between two roads

A Poem by Eli Lugo

From the devil's seed into the womb of an angel

I emerged into this world as a shade of grey

This heart is too warm to be damned

My touch much too cold to be holy

I become lost between two roads

In a world made up of good and evil

I contained the roots of both

Forced to choose between two roads

I would lose a part of me no matter the path I abide

Heaven and Hell collide creating storms inside of me

Each fighting to claim what is mine

I am torn between two roads

Burdened with existence forced on me through birth

I am a paradox that defies the nature of the world

Bound to be dismantled from the moment I was born

Internal chaos of the war between my heart mind and soul

I fall to my knees stuck between two roads

Refusing to let myself fall apart I find the strength to choose

Using every bit of will I finally able myself to move

With barely a crawl I push apart from either rode

Refusing to conform into the confines of the comfort

I dare to move away dragging hands and knees across the dirt

WIth every inch I mark the earth creating a path of my own

As I further away I regain my strength until I find myself standing alone

No longer lost inside the darkness

No longer blinded by the light

No longer forced to choose between two sides

I walk down this path of mine

And so from the devil's seed into the womb of an angel

I emerged as a shade of grey restoring balance to my life
