Moved On

Moved On

A Poem by Michelle Long

the easiest thing that I can see
would be to be completely forgiving
so, for tonight, that's how I'll be,
pretending you haven't done a thing to me

I've been pushed down many times before
I've pleased you till my mind was sore
I’d thought I would have something better in store...
Instead, I'm burned to the core

"You're the one for me, and you only."
I still remember that line you once said to me
before it made me blindedly happy,
but now it makes me laugh at the things I couldn't see

in a week you'll have already moved on
and by tomorrow I'll be, gladly, dead
but this action's not for you; I'm glad you're gone!
I just need to erase your disgusting face from my head

so for tonight I'll stay here and fight
I'll let you yell, since you think its right
I'll let you think you're hurting me even more
but-finally!-between us, there's a closed door

I love the 'closed door' bit, it's great and I rarely think about that side of love. Great poem, thanks!

Yeah, breaking up always sucks... But it happens for a reason, fortunately. Though I'm normally not a fan of "wear your heart on your sleeve" poetry, your poem held my attention through the end. Very raw emotions, very real thinking... Keep up the good work!

I find every piece of writing that I have currently posted on here terrible; they're all very old. I'd delete them, if I weren't such a weirdo and didn't have a problem with that thought. With tha.. more..
