Forever

Forever

A Poem by Michelle Long

You told me “forever”,
and I thought it was true.
I hoped it’d meant, forever would remain,
together forever, me and you.

But what does “forever” mean, I questioned-
until the end of time were you mine?
You could easily reassure me it meant even longer.
So I quit searching an answer; figured all was fine.

We began to slip away from that day;
I knew Forever was approaching us.
I quit hoping, and waiting for us to change.
A dishonest shine formed your eyes;
Still, you were never there; always away.
You carelessly looked past my cries.
And secretly returning to her, I wasn’t aware.

Then you threw me away, and I found out of the lies,
and the “love” you gave was merely a disguise.
I now know that in your eyes, my love,
my heart’s only paying its dues as it rips in two.
I’ve found that by you, forever means-
until you’ve found someone new

I find every piece of writing that I have currently posted on here terrible; they're all very old. I'd delete them, if I weren't such a weirdo and didn't have a problem with that thought. With tha.. more..
