To Those I Love

I wrote this while thinking about several of my closest friends. This was surprisingly emotional for me to write.

I won't always be right beside you
Life is complicated that way
So there is something you must remember
For when I do have to go away

Just remember that I love you

And that I always will

So just remember when you hate yourself

That I am beside you still

The next time you look in the mirror
Try to see yourself the way I do

Beauty does not come in a bottle

It is everything that makes you you

No matter how imperfect,

There is only one you

In fact, if there was another
I'd like to befriend them too

I don't care what you believe in

I have no right to judge

Just know that in the end

I just want you eternally taken care of

You know that I love you

And I know you'd never do me harm

So do me a favor when I must go

Take care of yourself; don't cause me additional alarm.

Please don't feel bad about your scars

We all have had a long past

If you feel the need to cover them up

Please remember that not all pain lasts

Please don't lie awake at night

Thinking of how you deserve no love

I know that there is someone out there

Even better than you believe you're worthy of

Please don't cry all by your lonesome
If your heart's in that much pain
Then call me up and talk to me
Let us feel the same

Please don't push people away

Life's too heavy a burden for one to hold

Find others to share in the joy and the pain

Dividing the burden lets the heart grow bold

But above all else, please don't forget

Just how much I care for you

When you try to bear life all alone

It pains me deeply too

Next time you glance in the mirror
Look for all the reasons for my love

Your caring eyes, strong heart, supporting smile

You are a better friend than I ever dreamed of

So please take care of yourself

Don't go on hiding

Don't you ever forget

You make my life worth living

I think there might be some flow problems. The poem itself is highly emotional to me, so I know what I want to express but I might not have found the right way to.

.....I legit almost cried while reading this. It's not surprising that you were emotional while writing it. This is beautiful. But yea I did notice some flow problems, but to me it doesn't take away from the emotion in this peace. I love you and glad we're friends :)

I cried a bit while writing it, honestly. Yeah, some sections are wordier than others, but I'd rather keep the meaning and emotion than lose it for flow. I need to find the best lines that work for both, but that'll happen eventually. Love you too. :)

You did good expressing your emotions in this one...it flowed fine, I think the message is more important for this one though in my opinion. I think everyone would want a friend like this...someone to be there even if you might not be able to see them, you know they love you and care what happens to you. I think when friends go separate ways at times they feel lost and alone...like no one cares anymore especially when no one is really around...but that is life, we need to learn to find more people to love and care about even if it is hard that change came...I still have to work on this and go out and meet new people because life is ever changing and people always come in and out of our lives. This is great for the love ones that are far away...it says no matter how far away I am you are still in my heart.

Thank you. :) It was very emotional to write. I hope that people see this (even if I don't know them personally) and remember the people that matter to them and gives them hope. It hurts to see anyone feel alone, especially the people I care about.

Yeah, this made me think of someone who wants me to not withdraw into myself when I am in pain, and not to be causing myself pain anymore. I hope a lot of people see this, too. It can be for anyone, and that's one of the things that makes this poem great.
