That Last FeatherA Poem by NeonWolves
It spirals back down,
Hits the earth with a thud.
If a bird falls in the woods,
Would anyone hear it?
Its body lay limp,
Now crushed by the fall.
Its wing lay crushed
As its feather pan out around.
In the air circling.
Like a puppy that lost its way.
They float and gently reach the ground.
Its beak lay open towards the sky.
Crying to return,
To it's family.
It's home in the trees.
What happened?
Wouldn't you like to know.
If I said nothing.
You wouldn't know.
That bird lay there,
All tattered and broken.
Those feathers circling.
Looking for it's wing.
It's sad to think,
I know this much is true.
There may be a bird,
There may not.
Wouldn't you like to know?
So would that last feather.
Spiraling for the ground.
Looking for it's wing.
